Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation – Call for entries

Dear SASEE member,

The Royal Academy of Engineering has announced that the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation 2023 is open for applications. The prize aims to stimulate, celebrate and reward African innovation and entrepreneurship. We are trying to reach as innovators as possible, and would be incredibly grateful if you could share this call for entries with your relevant networks.

Applications are invited from individuals or small teams, living and working in sub-Saharan Africa. Entrepreneurs from all engineering disciplines, with an innovation that can provide scalable solutions to local challenges, are invited to enter.

Shortlisted applicants will receive a six-month package of tailored support to help them achieve commercial success from their innovation. Please be aware that while applicants need not be proficient in English, all training will be conducted in English.

The overall winner of the GBP 25,000 prize will be announced at a high profile event in 2023.

Applications close on 19 July 2022. Innovators do not need to be qualified engineers to enter, but their innovation must involve some form of engineering (mechanical, software, etc.).

Please do share this with your networks, students and alumni, if appropriate. A short video about the prize can be viewed here. Please feel free to visit the Africa Prize website for more information, or follow developments on TwitterFacebook or LinkedIn.

One innovator can change a community.
A network can transform a continent.

Kind regards
