Congratulations to the winners of the 2019 SASEE research grant for the following proposed projects:
- Dr Lelanie Smith from Pretoria University (with Drs Nadia Trent and Aida Guerra) for ‘Investigation of the impact of a co-curricular vertically integrated design project to develop innovative attitudes in engineering students’
- Liezle Boshoff from Cape Peninsula University of Technology for ‘Developing Model-Eliciting Activities for Undergraduate Engineering Students’
We are pleased to announce the recipients of our latest research grant programme award to support new researchers in engineering education. We received 18 applications in this cycle which is a step up from 2017 cycle and indicative of the growing enthusiasm for engineering education research in South Africa. The applications were assessed in terms of their originality, relevance to the South African community, methodology and suitability in terms of the given timeframe and budget. The assessment panel did take into account the possible impact of the Covid-19 on the feasibility of the proposed research. Fortunately, it seems that the best proposals will not be adversely affected by the current pandemic.
The winning proposals will each receive R20,000. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of these exciting projects presented at the 2021 SASEE Conference.
